Mill Pond 7/12/23

The 5th All Hands Golf Outing of 2023 took place this past Wednesday, and it was another resounding success. Golfers checked in early and also tried on club jackets for size - should they get a bid to join in September. The venue for the day was Mill Pond, featuring its challenging links and infamous fescue. (Please don’t mention the word fescue to Voos) Members and candidates proudly showcased their patriotic golf attire, and as tradition dictates, the playing of the National Anthem brought all course employees and nearby golfers to a standstill. American flags and club banners proudly fluttered from golf carts, adding another touch of patriotism throughout the course.

Before diving into the winners' categories, a special shoutout goes to Elmhurst Eagle, Tommy Nap, for shooting an impressive eagle on the course. An eagle for an eagle, if you will. This remarkable feat marked the club's first-ever eagle, and the accomplishment did not go unnoticed.

Moving on to the two-man scramble winners, John Hansen and Chris Gonnatta emerged victorious with a commendable score of 74. The competition was fierce, with four teams shooting an impressive 76. Among them were the trio of Eddie Kerwick, Brian McGowan, and Mike Leo, who showcased their skills and teamwork. Scott Mastrelli and Chris DelGiorno also impressed with their performance. Additionally, the team of Waldron and Cash (The Young Guns) proved their mettle on the course. Last but not least, Tommy Nap and Brian Jones delivered a noteworthy performance, contributing to the high level of play witnessed throughout the day. Congratulations to all the winning teams for their exceptional performances!

The long drive contest had its fair share of excitement, with Chris DelGiorno and Kenny O'Connor emerging as the champions in this category. Their impressive drives garnered attention and admiration from their fellow golfers, solidifying their positions as formidable competitors on the course.

The closest to the pin contest showcased the accuracy and finesse of Kevin Cash and John Waldron, (Young Guns strike again). Their shots landed with precision, proving their prowess in navigating the course's challenging elements.

Adding to the excitement of the day, Brian Jones was declared the lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle. With a smile on his face, he claimed the prize and enjoyed the recognition that comes with such a win.

The Outing was undoubtedly a day to remember. From the camaraderie and friendly competition to the remarkable performances and memorable moments, the event exemplified the spirit of The All Hands Golf Club. As members and candidates eagerly look forward to our next outing on July 25, keep in mind some important dates: Sept 6 is the Club Party and our Club Championship will be on October 25.
